What is a webinar?

A webinar is an online seminar. It is a method of providing you with training and/or information without any necessity for you to leave your desk and computer.

By combining internet and telephone technology, we are able to deliver succinct and comprehensive information to you (and your colleagues) at your own premises at a mutually convenient time.

What are the benefits?

Most obvious is that nobody needs to travel.

The speaker and all the delegates can be in different places - anywhere in the world. Each participant just needs a computer with internet access and a telephone.

They are very easy to set up. Once the initial lack of familiarity is (quickly) overcome, you can attend regular scheduled events or make arrangement with us to take part in bespoke webinars on agreed topics at mutually convenient times.
There is no wasted travel time. Obviously, this is also beneficial from an environmental viewpoint.

How do they work?

top

You register interest in one of the webinars we are running (by completing the online form).

We then email you a formal invitation to take part. The invitation will indicate the specific date and time for the event. The invitation emailed to you also links to some simple tests which you run on your computer (taking about 5 minutes altogether) to ensure the webinar will run properly when the time comes.

Just before the event is due to start, you click on a link in the invitation email and follow simple instructions to login. You also dial a telephone number (which appears on screen once you log in) and punch in a code.

Once the webinar begins, you and the other delegates will be able to hear the speaker on the telephone and see the presentation on your computer screen. You may or may not be able to hear the other delegates - this is at the discretion of the speaker.

What are the restrictions?

You can't see the speaker or other participants (some might see this as an advantage!). The quality of some elements of any presentation will depend on the speed of your internet connection.

If you work in a corporate environment, you may need to speak to your I.T. support team to enable features necessary to participate.

What do Osmond webinars offer?

The programme will evolve over time in response to demand. The first events simply provided an overview of the latest products entering the market.

There are now several events with guest speakers on a variety of topics related to research, ergonomics, environment, Health & Safety and Occupational Health. Your feedback will shape the schedule.

How much do Osmond webinars cost?

top

Your time and the cost of a telephone call. Nothing more.

How long do they last?

Usually 30 - 60 minutes. As with any presentation, the exact duration will depend upon audience interaction and questions.

Do Osmond webinars qualify for CPD?

Probably, but this will be dependent on your own profession and CPD criteria. Certificates will be available on request. A half day CPD certificate will be available for three webinars attended and a full day certificate for five events.

How often do they take place?

top

There is a new topic each month and it will be repeated on different days and at different times. Some topics (e.g. New Product Overview) will be updated and repeated as necessary.

Are they "live" or recorded?

All scheduled events will be delivered "live" by a presenter or presenters. In due course, recordings of previous events will be available for unrestricted viewing.

Does Osmond run bespoke webinars?

We are always pleased to discuss topics and opportunities for webinars. We can agree specific subjects for your organisation, association or special interest group and arrange times to suit all participants (including evenings).

How do I book a place on one?

Complete the booking form and submit it to us (there is no commitment at this stage). You will note that the Webinar Selection lists all available webinar topics and times. On receipt of your online request, we shall email you an invitation.
